Hi

I have a dgn file of size 59700 KB ( vendor model attached in PDS through reference discipline)

Originally its not a .dgn file and I guess this file has been converted into microstation file to be able to reference in PDS.

When I open SPR session and while particularly in Encircle mode whenever I make a move then the session hangs  with the following message.

" Building encircle model list 18 of 40 lists by DMRS linkage ; Hit esc to cancel ; Reviewing elements .. "

If I hit esc then it is ok but every time I make a move I have to do this .If I dont cancel it then it takes lot of time reviewing all elements.

This is not happening when I switch off the vendor model in SPR .

Thanks .
Chandraa

Hi Chandraa,

I am not sure why this is happening, however we have actually moved away from using SmartPlant Review for a number of these reasons as we have found that SPR hangs quite alot as well as when loading a model in SPR it makes our workstations un-usable as it seems to use all of the CPU.

I know this is not a solution but we have moved to using ModeInsight form Ticodi as it does not have any of these problems and also it has a great model commenting tool ReviewInsight which we find invaluable. Have a look http://www.ticodi.com

I will however have a look at this problem and see if I know why this is happening

Best Regards

Hi Chandra. we have also seen this problem while using 3rd party models as references in PDS.

Usually when these models are converted to DGN files, u have to convert the surfaces to solids.. I think there is some functionality in MS v8 to do that. Then u can export and save the file in V7 format..  i am looking for documentation on this matter.. hopefully i will find it soon..
